Kevin, Don’t Do It!

By: Sam | April 6th, 2008

Henry v PabloKevin over at Barca Offside wants a piano dropped on his head because of the frustrating result at nil against Getafe.

It’s okay, Kevin. As I was saying about Man Utd v ‘Boro, the dead air between the two legs of the Champions League quarter-finals tends to produce moribund league results.

Here, our theory is borne out: Barca 0 - Getafe 0. What can I say except, “I’m fantastic!”?

However, there are exceptions to the rule. So I’ll be the first to say ‘I’m not so fantastic’ in the case of Roma, who produced a spirited performance at home against Genoa, 3 -2 on Saturday.

Roma are fighting Inter for the Scudetto too, and so the Giallorossi put their difficulties against United into the We’ll-Get-Back-to-You compartment.

Expect the unexpected … from champions.

Barca v Schalke will be terrific on Wednesday.

The problem appears to with Barca, despitethe injuries, the desperate need to play the same formation. You can’t have Eto’o and to a lesser extent Henry doing Messi and Ronaldinho’s jobs really.

I’ll be okay, Sam. The request was just for a general smiting, and I’ll take the bird emptying itself on my freshly-waxed car as an appropriate response from the deities. :D

Can’t wait for the ties this week. I don’t think Roma is dead yet, though Mancini is certainly dragging. And Schalke could very well make things interesting. I still foresee a Man U/Barca semi, which will in fact be the real CL final, particularly if Fehnerbahce can manage to hold an all-guns-blazing Chelsea.

And this just in: The goalposts at Camp Nou are going to be replaced with pencils.

As for the smiting there is a church inside the Nou Camp dressing room isn’t there? I remember Johan Cruyff had a go at by saying “I don’t understand why players cross themselves before a game, if all 22 cross themselves every game will be draw”

Well THAT explains it now, doesn’t it? I knew they should have blocked access to the chapel.
