The Latest Bizzare Ticket descion for UEFA
By: Rob | April 17th, 2008So your team is in the semi-final of the Champions League. Your mind is begining to dream about Moscow, about watching your team lift the biggest club trophy of them all. Well you should probably stop dreaming and get onto your club, because UEFA are forcing the clubs to sell thier tickets now - or at least take down names and potential money - because of worries about Visas.
Although Man United have already given out the ticket information, Liverpool are the ones to really dig thier heels in. The club’s chief executive Rick Parry took a few minutes out from his war of words with Tom Hicks to describe how unhappy he was with the situation.
“The tickets have got to go on sale now because of UEFA visa requirements.
UEFA have insisted that we provide them with details the day after the second leg of the semi-final in order to process visas.
There is no alternative for us but to start now, however uncomfortable we might feel.
This is not the way we would prefer to do it because we do feel uncomfortable about it, but we have no choice.”
So presumably all four clubs are going to have to sell thier allocation now, hope they get through, because if they don’t it’ll be a nightmare refunding all the tickets. Quite a mad situation, but if the visas take that long to process what can they do? Either way alot of fans are going to be double-upset when the team they love doesn’t make it to the final.

Pretty crazy over at the Barca Soci, too. We’re getting the same deal. Make your application, and you’ll need a 35E visa in addition to your passport, hope we make the final. Whee!
