A New Signing for The Champions League Offside
By: Rob | February 22nd, 2008Well hello, I’m gonna be joining Adam here on the Champions League blog, which hopefully should be a rewarding expeience for all of us. I’ll use this introductory post so you can get to know me a little better, and so we can get through all that traditional introductory stuff.
Without doubt the Champions League is the best club tournament in the world, and even though it quite clearly has its flaws - like, for example, its name - its still something i’m constantly looking forward too. This, for me is probably for a number of reasons. First off, I don’t support a club that is ever likely to be in the Champions League (Though the Mighty Bristol Rovers are doing ok at the moment!) so it gives me a (theoretical, i’m always supporting someone) neutrality in the tournament - so not only am I seeing the most exciting players in the world but also in a fairly unbiased way (maybe). The other reason is that due to England’s lack of qualification at the 1994 World Cup - my introduction to football - I’ve always enjoyed watching teams not my own. I also adopted the Italians as my team in that world cup, and thus followed Serie A as rigerously (adopting Roma as my team, despite my heroes ranging from Maldini to Baggio) as the Premiership ever since. This of course adds extra spice to Champions League games for me because, well I know all about all 22 players most of the time.
Anyway, enough rambling, its 4am here. You’ll be hearing from me again soon, I promise.

I automatically trust the judgment of anyone who sees the light and is attracted to the beauty that is la Roma.
