AS Roma v Genoa (Serie A highlights)

By: Sam | April 6th, 2008

AS Roma, having been up 2-nil (Taddei 14th, Vucinic a spectacle in the 17th), came back with an 80th-minute upper left-corner placement from the spot by Daniele De Rossi for a dramatic 3-2 finish. Genoa’s Marco Boriello had taken down Rodrigo Taddei — a forward’s rash challenge in his own box.

Roma remain four points behind Inter (who beat Atalanta 2-1 today) at the top of the Scudetto chase.

Roma’s confidence will be up now following the 2-nil Champions League disappointment last week at Stadio Olimpico against Manchester United. United’s fortunes have turned suddenly now that the central pegs of its stolid back four, Vidic and Ferdinand, will miss the 2nd leg this week from injury.

Mr Spalletti will be thinking Route-One Football and giving Vucinic company up front, as well as other ways to push United’s modified & untested back line (Evra, Brown, Gerard Pique, O’Shea ?) out of shape to create good chances at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Different complexion for Roma this week, which makes it more interesting.
