The Carragher | Drogba contest was going to tell a lot. DD will be singled out for his brace and another motivated performance, but Lampard & Ballack were positively balletic. Essien, a force of nature.

Credit to Liverpool for making it a match, but they were out-matched on Chelsea’s magic patch.

Riise will be feeling bad for a long, long time. I have drawn attention to his one-sided-ness for a few years now and it really let him down in the most dramatic of any of the myriad possible ways in his 1st leg O.G.

The reason he elected to head away a short-hop cross with Anelka breathing down his neck in the 6-yard box was his everpresent doubt about his right foot. I feel for the lad. Perhaps that was what Jamie Carragher was on about when he said last year, “We need better players.”

Avram deserves the respect he’s won. I mean, among other things, playing Micheal Essien at right back is fooking genius … Python-esque turn of brilliance, that.
