Like Homey G, I fail to understand why Arsenal find it hard to spend good money for great players. We need a few big name players, some proven winners for sure. It appears a if we're becoming a breeding team. We find good talent, we cultivate it, then we sell them to big clubs willing to pay big bucks for thier services. I really don't blame Flamini for leaving or anyone else with possible intentions of doing so. Football is about the money now more than ever before, if a big club wants to pay for what you're already doing at another club, then why not. I love you Gunners, but you have to do better.

I was going to mention that Cesc is from Barca and is Catalan. But I think Calderon is trying to get the Real side to look more like the Spanish national side, and of course Cesc plays for them, so I guess I let it slide.

Interesting comment from Calderon considering Cesc is Catalan and not really a Spaniard (a distinction almost every Catalans make). And them Catalans don't tolerate Castellanos very well. I'd be stunned to ever see him go to Madrid, though elsewhere is certainly possible.

I think, Homey G, that although Arsenal do have as much money as anyone - the Emirates move is mainly the reason - some of it is loans and stuff. But I think perhaps we are both right, Arsene was 'unable' to get the board to be 'willing' to pay Flamini the same money as Milan were offering.

Milan are going to be much like Bayern last year I think, so desperate to bounce back from a poor season they'll spend a fortune.

The only thing in this article I disagree with is the statement that Arsenal were "unable" to offer Flamini anything close to what Milan could offer. I would change that to "unwilling." From all the reports I've read, Arsenal basically has as much wealth as anyone in the world. Right about top 3 or 4 wealthiest clubs in the world. If they wanted to pay Flamini what Milan offered, I believe it would be easy to do so. I just wish they'd get with the times and keep up with the Joneses. Start acting like a big club, buy some major players, and start winning some trophies again.
