If Gunners Bounce ..?

By: Sam | April 11th, 2008

Babel being tugged back by FabregasWenger-th’-Voyuer is getting Arsenal pumped up for Sunday’s EPL clash against Manchester United. Their season rides on it, he says …

“It will be the greatest achievement of my career to win the Premier League now because we are swimming against the stream at the moment,” said Wenger. “For us the game on Sunday is the game of the season. If we do not win this game we have no chance. We will fight until the last second of the championship.”

Of course Arsenal are out of the Champions League but what happens in this game will affect United’s confidence going into the next league fixture — against Chelsea! — around which are the pair of Barcelona legs in the CL.

Arsenal’s inglorious — some feel unfair — knock-out of the Champions League by Liverpool will give Arsenal a special passion and something to prove this weekend against United.

This will not be a 1-nil result.

Should be a great match. Even if they don’t win the league, a win for Arsenal will open the door for Chelsea. Man United have some very hard opponents this month, and if they can come out of it still in charge of the Premier League and alive in the CL, then they definitely will have earned it.

Absolutely – if Arsenal win the league is blown wide open for Chelsea and makes the Man United/Chelsea encounter – right between thier respective CL games absolutely massive.
