Quick hits…before the mondo breakdown

By: Nathan | March 7th, 2007

My eyes are falling out of my head, 2 days and 6 games. Between ESPN2 and Setanta, my Tivo and I can get all but 1 game each day. No Inter-Valencia Tuesday, no Milan-Celtic today (Setanta doesn’t like the Italians I guess). Tomorrow evening will bring a complete breakdown of the action. Winners and losers, sorting through the wreckage is almost as fun as previewing the forthcoming match-ups. Then on Friday evening we’ll get you a full round-up of the quarterfinal and subsequent semifinal match-ups.

A quick taste of the winners and the wreckage to come…
Winner - Alex (PSV) - who is about to become the hottest defensive property on the planet.
Wreckage - the end of the Houllier era in Lyon…can’t see him lasting - Sven anyone?

congatulations to all the fans of:
PSV
AC Milan
Bayern Munich
Man U
Valencia (sorta)
Liverpool
Chelsea
Roma

and to the rest - a week of crying yourself to sleep. As for me I will be seeing the Mancini goal in my dreams for weeks…

See you tomorrow.

That Mancini goal is a wet dream waiting to happen.

Can’t see Lyon getting rid of Houllier. Rumor has it that he’s going to leave on his own accord to coach Australia.

I think AC Milan have some type of deal with FSC - though they only get to show they’re CL games a few days later. Strange…

I think Alex is already owned by Chelsea - and should be going there next season…

Alex will probably never be eligible to play in England due to their crazy ass work permit stipulations. He has other options though including obtaining citizenship in an EU country which would allow him an EU permit and the necessary eligibility to play in any EU country. Something like that or the other.
