That’s just it though mele, 16 seems low, because it was only 3 or 4 years ago that 60m was being seriously turned down.

He’s also only going that cheap because of the whole buying out his contract thing – I reckon without it he would still be going to a heck of alot of money with a few years left on his contract

Yeah, I obviously don’t think he really sucks.
He’s a good player with plenty of skill, but his golden days are over. He is no longer a goal-scoring-legendary-machine.
He’s just another big name going down the toilet. Frankly, 16m is high for his recent performance, in my opinion. But that is purely his recent performance, not taking into account any sort of re-bound or anything like that. But really, managers were throwing around numbers like 45m, 60m before, and look now what he’s going for…

I’ll agree its not risk free – particuarly if it is his attitude that is the problem, though that might not be the case anyway.

I do think though that considering two or three years ago he was easily the best footballer on the planet it is essentially a bargin. He should theoretically be at his peak as well, I just reckon something’s happened at Barca that noone really knows about.

A thought – Imagine in two years you could get Kaka’ or Ronaldo for that price? I reckon you’d take it.

I kind of agree with mele, actually—he obviously doesn’t “suck”, but he’s been so erratic and fragile for last couple of years that I don’t think 2006 prices still apply. £16m sounds low, but it’s not a risk-free investment.

I still wouldn’t be surprised if he wound up going for considerably more to a club like Chelsea, of course. Personally, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the Ronaldinho-Lampard midfield. Pure comic gold.

As if the amount of money matters to Chelsea! I imagine to Roman there is not much difference between 10 and 30 million pounds really.
