Sporel - I'm really a bit dissapointed Alex didn't get in, with all his assists he has been vital for Fener. I would have picked him in my own team. I would stick Cesc in ahead of Gerrard, but thats a personal preference, otherwise you got a pretty neat team.

I missed the voting, so here is my team. I could not let the clear assist leader be left out.

-----------Cech
Essien Terry Ferdinand Evra
Ronaldo Ballack Gerrard Messi
-----------Alex
----------Torres

Bench: Van der Saar, Mexes, Puyol, Fabregas, Drogba, Aurelio, Pirlo

Coach: I would love to say Zico but he kind of handed the Turkish league to archrivals, so my vote goes to Benitez.

Agreed on DeRossi, he gets way to much love on this site for being a over rated defensive midfieler with a knack for yellow cards!

suisei - one moment, in one game, that settled the game. So far more relevant than the other 89 minutes. Which were mostly spent by Messi proving his one-dimensionality. Oh, I've got the ball on the right, what am I going to do? Go on, take a guess... damn you got it! How did you know I was going to cut inside again?!! Uncanny.

I'm not quite sure what you're going on about with the ballon d'or. I don't really understand how you've made the jump to best goal? To be honest that logic means your whole reply is barely credible.

And as for Scholes. The best players play best when it matters. Not like "DDR" who capitulated against United. He'll have another epic game in the final because he's a performer under pressure. He's in the team now rather than Anderson because he brings that quality at the end of the season, where he's been so many times. Mark my words - watch his final performance and weep as he proves me right.

I would have had Ballack starting anyway. You can tell he's at Chelsea for the CL and his performances in the tournament have indicated that. Time and time again he gets those crucial goals and is another performer under pressure. After all, that's what the CL is all about. Yes, I know De Rossi had a good couple of games against Real, but as indicated by the semi final line up, the English teams are a class apart from everyone else this year. The only team that's knocked out an English team were themselves English, so I think that really says it all.

>Ronaldo’s performance against Barcelona was so tripe wasn’t it? I particularly thought the bit where he attracted the attention of 3 defenders to give Scholes enough room for a heavy touch and shot outside the area was particularly useless.

again, one moment in one game

you do know that football matches last 90 minutes, right? And that 12 games have been played? no?

alright, the legendary wes brown clearly deserves the ballon d'or for this goal then

http://youtube.com/watch?v=c9DHLA5hazU

Ronaldo obviously earns a spot on this list despite a reserved performance against barcelona in both legs, but Scholes has been mediocre for much of the CL this season

I think Theo will be outstanding for Arsenal next season. He's been really promising this time round, and I think next season he'll bloom fully. I really look forward to it.

Theo walcott should be in the squad!

Everytime he came off the bench he set up a clear cut chance!

Against AC he set up Ade for a goal in san siro and an open goal for Ade in the first leg.

Remember THAT run from his own penalty area to lay that chance on a plate for Ade?

Also two goals against Slavia Prague.

He simply HAS to be on the bench.

That is true that they don't really have any other contenders this year, but I do think Pippo should have been on there somewhere, and I ABSOLUTELY have Maldini ahead of Evra.
