Tug-O-War: Enough about players, now its bloggers turn

By: Adam | April 21st, 2008

Yes the title is right. Its not about players/mangers/pundits pedantic diatribes. Its straight from heart talk by fellow bloggers of The Offside. Even though football is about millions of things, fans are biggest stakeholders. Thats why we thought of an idea wherein we will invite bloggers from blogs of the teams involved in Champions League, to have an indirect small argument between the two sets of fans. We created small questionnaire for them and asked them to given everything to anything. This is the very 1st edition of upcoming tug-o-war contests between the bloggers. Off course you can also contribute in space given below under the title of comments.

For this edition we have invited (claps?) our beloved Jack (Chelsea blog) and CSD (Liverpool blog) who keep on buzzing every now and then at The Offside. Both of them are die hard fans of their respective teams. We have created two sections viz. common section and team specific section. In common sections questions are common to their teams. Vice versa is applicable for team specific section.

COMMON SECTION:

Q:This is 19th time (and effectively 20th in next week) your team is going to have a meeting with the same opposition in last 4 years. Your thoughts on this?
CSD- I think it’s a testament to the quality of both teams. I’m not going to lie, playing them gets old. But when you have two teams in the same league of this caliber you’re bound to meet each other often in tournaments.
Jack- Is it really that shocking? Beautiful football be damned!

Q:Are neutrals going to have attacks of Narcolepsy this time (like last year)?
CSD- There will be no sleeping!
Jack- I hope so.

Q:Which player will hold the key to Moscow?
CSD- Steven Gerrard of course. The captain is the one the Reds always rely on to change the course of the game and make things happen. He holds the key, but Torres will turn it. Just when you think he’s out of the game and won’t produce, he rips a goal out of nowhere.
Jack- Steve Sidwell. Wait. Really, it has to be Drogba. You have no idea what you’re going to get from the iPod fanatic but, without him, we might as well be Bolton (exaggeration).

Q:Do you think your team has been “lucky” till now?
CSD- It depends on what you mean by lucky. If you’re talking about refereeing decisions, I say no. People like to pick on Liverpool when something goes their way, but tend to forget about the decisions that do not, for instance the three match suspension of Mascherano. Lucky goals? Sure, why not? But I think the skill of the players to create the opportunities shouldn’t be discounted, and then sometimes the ball happens to bounce the right way.
Jack- Eh, not really. We’ve drawn the easiest opposition thus far but that simply comes down to psychokinesis.

Q:Do you think your opposition has been “lucky” till now?
CSD- No, I would say the same for them as us. I think we’re both lucky that Barnsley isn’t in the Champions League.
Jack- Of course those foul-mouth hooligans have been. (With no evidence to back such claim)

Q:If you win then which opponent would you like to meet in Final? Man Utd or Barca?
CSD- Barcelona. Who the f*ck are Man Utd?
Jack- United. An all-England finale would be some spectacle. Plus, who doesn’t want to see CRonaldo take a dive on the biggest stage once again.

Q:If your manager is reading this blog then what advice would you like to give?
CSD- Rafa: Stay out of pastry shops.
Jack- In the immortal words of Simon Pegg, “Jog On.”

Q:If your manager recommends this blog to owner/s then what message would you like to convey?
CSD- Tom & George: Shut the F*CK up!
Jack- Rome, do us all a favor. Ink Laudrup now.

Q:What jibe/dig would you like to throw at opposition fans?
CSD- I think they have enough to deal with: players that want to leave and an unfortunate looking manager.
Jack- Tom Hicks. That guy is a champion.

Q:Any specific chant/song you’d like to remind us?
CSD- His armband proved he was a red TORRES TORRES
You’ll never walk alone it said TORRES TORRES
We got the lad from sunny Spain
He gets the ball he’ll score again
FERNANDO TORRES Liverpool’s number 9
Jack- He’s only a poor little scouser,
His face is all tattered and torn.
He made me feel sick,
So I hate him with a brick
And now he don’t sing anymore.

Q:What will be your reaction if your team loses due to unfair decisions (like bad referring)?
CSD- That’s how it goes sometimes. We choose to support clubs that play in a sport where everything is left up to human error. I wish just a portion of the technology that is out there would be implemented, but until it is we have to deal with what we have and respect the referee’s decision no matter how asinine it might be.
Jack- The same as usual. A look of despair, followed five minutes later by the traditional throwing of the bar stool.

Q:Last but not the least, your predictions?
CSD- Liverpool 12 – 0 Chelsea in first leg. Torres hat trick trifecta will come into play. I’m not very good at predictions.
Jack- Liverpool 2-0

TEAM SPECIFIC SECTION:

Chelsea:-
Q:If Chelsea are thru to finals then are we going to hear “Avram’s Blue and White army” chants from fellow blues?
Jack- Hell to the no. I could put Cliff Huxtable in charge of this Chelsea side and make a run to the final.

Q:2nd leg at the home, is it advantage or disadvantage?
Jack- Major advantage. The cauldron that is Anfield has clearly been a distraction, just look at last season’s penalty shootout. Having the second leg at the Bridge will ease nerves within the squad, something that I see as key in a tie of this caliber.

Q:What is your response to “you ain’t got no history” chants targeted at Chelsea fans by Liverpool fans?
Jack- Oh, I’ve targeted this subject on the blog before. To refresh, every f**king club has history you idiots.

Liverpool:-
Q:If Liverpool are thru to finals then are we going to hear “Hicks and Gillet’s red army goes marching on” from Kopites?
CSD- Right…

Q:2nd leg away from home, is it advantage or disadvantage?
CSD- It doesn’t matter, but if we advance it would have been nice to do so from home.

Q:What is your response to “cup team” digs targeted at Liverpool fans by fellow Chelsea fans?
CSD- We won it 5 times…

So thats all from us. A big thank you to both Jack and CSD. Which blogger you think has won the war?

Jack I think, purely because he quoted Simon Pegg. Though I do have to take issue with the idea of another Chelsea/Man United final. Did he not watch last years FA Cup final!?
