Avram Tries Enigmatic. Ends up like Statler. Now With Video!

In his second bizzare press conference of the week, Chelsea Manager Avram Grant has completely confused the media, by only answering questions for five minutes, and giving sulky one-word answers to most of the questions. You can see it here.

It is fair to say that Grumpy Grant has failed so far to step out of Jose Mourinho’s shadow. Yesterdays press conference, which followed a 1-0 win in the EPL against Champions League chasing Everton, seemed to mimic Jose’s annoyed, enigmatic style, but without any of the wit and soundbite that made the self-styled Special One so popular.
Presumably, Grant was pissed off that the influence of Sky had led to the game being played on a Thursday, bunching all The Blues games together – not ideal prep for a Champions League match against Liverpool.
Grant however refused to comment as to whether Sky was the route of his annoyance.
“Maybe it is because of you, I don’t know.”
He was then asked if it was a personal problem to which he replied
“No. I’m fine, I sometimes have nothing to say”
Those were his longest answers. Asked if Chelsea were back in the title race, he replied
“maybe not”
Whatever’s going on, Avram seems to be looking for a personality that fits him. Outlandish yesterday, overly grmpy today. Tomorrow he’ll be cheerful? Well, I wouldn’t hold your breath.
