It’s all about European play, it has nothing to do with domestic form. CSKA won the UEFA Cup a few years ago, and Rangers made the final in ‘08. Going deep into the UEFA Cup gets you more points than going out in the last 16 of Champions League.

That’s all true. I was ranting against the system, knowing full well that under the system it is correct. However, the idea of the coefficients is stupid considering that teams can drastically change over the course of 5 season, going from being a champions League finalist to finishing 16th in the League (Monaco). The seeding should be based on the performance domestically and on the continent in the previous season.

im kinda doubtful that bayern munich is better than some of the teams in lower pots. theres no doubt at all when i say that milan and sevilla have no right to be in pot 1

shall we remember porto eliminated atletico last year?
but this draw seemed to lack fantasy, so many rematches! fiorentina-lyon, stuttgart-rangers, atleti-porto, and chelsea-porto. keep in mind some of these go 2 years back

this draw can lose the EPL title for United this year; Besiktas away the midweek before City. Moscow away 3 days before Liverpool.

Remind me how Fiorentina are possibly better than Lyon this year when they weren’t last year? Notice how Lyon signed Lisandro Lopez, Bafetimbi Gomis, Michel Bastos, and Aly Cissokho over the summer. And they’re playing well together. Hmmm.

He has now officially been banned for more games than Ronaldo for diving in his career. Its an absolute joke. Will they punish every offense after the fact from now on???

    Will UEFA be consistent?

    Of course not.

    They’ve already answered that question.

Last week Ashley Young blatantly dived in Villa’s Europa cup game to get a penalty, which he did, and Villa scored.

No punishment for Young of course.

But then Young is good old English lad and he didn’t have the misfortune of playing against a Scottish team.

The lesson to take from Eduardo’s ban is for all players playing against any Scottish teams to be careful and not dive.

Otherwise, they can go on with business as usual.

Just a correction- Deschamps is the coach of Marseille, traveling to Milan. Laurent Blanc is Bordeaux’s coach.

For us Fiorentina fans it wasn’t as miserable a night as you’d expect…sometimes theres alot more than just a score, and we played admirably and were proud of it

    Regarding group F :

If Inter beat Barça, as long as Rubin get 3 points in their two last matches, then Barça are in the Europa League.

I’m suddenly wondering if Barça fans are still so happy about Eto’o going to Inter.
