Real Madrid Vs Juventus Liveblog

By: Rob | November 5th, 2008

Van NistoApologies for the lateness of this. I thought It’d probably already be done, and it was the only game I wanted to see.

Honestly, this is what Champions League nights are all about isn’t it? Real Madrid, the most successful side to come out of Spain, Vs Trophy magnets Juventus. Clash of the titans. Alright so neither has quite hit the heights recently for varying reasons, but this is the point of the CL! Two of the biggest clubs in the world, fighting it out. Full Iveblog after the jump.

Real Madrid 0 – 1 Juventus

Del Piero 16, 66

Full Time – Not as good a game as I might have liked, but Juve won’t mind. They now are top and through. Thanks to everyone who read.

90+1 – ADP taken off just so he’s gets the applause. Thats nice.

90 – Good looping header could have dropped in, but Manniger had it covered.

89 – Drenthe goes down on the edge trying to get a pen. FK given. Van Der Vaart hits it at the wall.

86 – ADP should have his hat trick. Great cross in, controls it in the box, but his strike just trickles past the post.

85 – Drenthe tries a dipping shot just outside the box, but Manniger plucks it out the air

84 – Drenthe crosses in well but Higuain can’t control it it seems.

Amuari off Iaquinta on

82 – Another cross headed away by Chiellini.

Heinze/Van Nisto off, Van der Vaart/Saviola on.

80 – Second Worst Cross Ever. This time Guti. They miss Beckham huh.

78 – Chiellini sticks and elbow into Drenthe. He’s not booked.

77 – Drenthe hits the ball at Mellbergs face. FK for Handball.

74 – Stupid frustrated shot from Ramos is now in Row Z

73 _ Del Piero hits an early cross but no-one in there for Juve.

71 – Van Nisto blasts one in the box, and it hits a Juve arm. Yet another penalty shout gone begging for Madrid.

68 – Drenthe sticks a great ball across the six yard box, but Higuain does not connect.

Also, Juve through the group if it stays this way.

- In fact it didn’t actually go over the wall, the wall wasn’t far enough across. Take nothing from Alex though.

66 – GOAL! Del Piero bends the Free Kick over the wall, in the corner. Beautiful.

65 – Cana takes down Sissoko in Del Piero range.

Snijder is off Higuain on.

- I really thought this would be a better game than this.

60 – Ramos does a few step overs, looks around, Nedved takes the ball off him and walks off.

58 – My stream went down but its back now. Don’t seem to have missed tooo much.

53 – Casillas has to come a long long way to get rid of that, it eventually falls to Nedved, but its a weak shot and the keeper gets behind it.

51 – Another penalty appeal from Real,Legrottaglie in the air with Raul, just leans on the Madrid striker and Raul went down expectantly. Nothing given.

50 – Van Nisto slides in on a 50/50, gets the ball, but goes right through Nedved as well, so picks up a yellow card.

49 – A quick throw in catches the Juve defence cold and Van Nisto and Chilleni are shoulder to shoulder – Nisto goes down, nothing given.

48 – Real look more in control already, trying to set the pace.

47 – Amauri jumps with Heinze and is ajudged to have fouled him.

46 – Drenthe blasts one angrily at the side netting. Raul’s face says “where was the pass”.

45 – We’re off, again.

I think the camera man has a crush on El Diego. Seen him thrice now.

Juve are back out for the second half. Real are coming out now.

HT – Real have had a few chances, but the teams are seperated by one moment of magic in an otherwise pretty dull affair.

- Anyone out there, btw?

44 – Another really good chance for Real, but headed over the bar

- I think he did try and square it but defender got a touch.

43 – Drenthe breaks through but he should have sqaured it! Chance wasted.

40 – Real give Juve the ball but they can’t make anything with it, Tiago and Amauri between them, just can’t work it in.

36 – Guti with a through ball to Van Nisto, on the edge of the box, tries to blast it in, but can’t keep it down.

35 – Guti in the book as well now.

34 – Tackles are flying in at the moment, but thats about it really.

31 – Heinze thinks he’s found the way to stop Alex Del Piero – clatter him.

30 – Drenthe booked for a stupid tackle.

28 – Momo Sissoko picks up the first Yellow of the night

26 – Del Piero just tried to nutmeg Cannavaro. That would have been cheeky. He’s running riot though, Real can’t do anything with him.

25 Tiago crosses but its too high for Amauri.

24 Snijder seems to have a knock. Sissoko caused it shows the replay, in a 50/50 ball.

23 – Should have been a Real Madrid goal. Brilliant cross from the left – Heinze I think – and stuck it on a plate for Sergio Ramos who blazes over from six yards.

21 – Brilliant ball across the face of the goal, shame no Juve player got on the end of it, would have finished a good team mood. All Juve at the mo.

20 – Del Piero gets the ball in space again, and knocks the ball out wide, but the return doesn’t quite find him.

19 – Real fans silent as Ramos heads over the bar.

16 GOAL – ball given away carelessly in midfield by Real, just gives the ball to Del Piero, who is always gonna hit it, just keeps running at goal and bangs it in the corner. 1-0!

14 – Juve just playing keep-ball at the mo. Commentator calls it ‘Patient’.

12 – Maradona is in the crowd, doing a bit of scouting.

11- First threatning attack from Juve. Good pass from Nedved to Amauri, but ex-Juve man Cana stops him.

9 – Ball hits Tiago in the arm. Its not a pen.

8 – Great first touch in the box from Raul but great defending from Chiellini wins a CK. CK cleared eventually.

7 – Good Real move, another poor Drenthe cross.

6 – Worst Cross Ever. Drenthe not having a good start.

5 – If i were Juve, so says the commentator “I’d have someone run at Ramos because I don’t rate him as a defender” – Presumably not “pacey” Pavel Nedved’s job.

3 – ADP takes a tiny touch and goes down. Nothing comes of the FK

2- Great cross field ball from Guti to Drenthe, but the latter doesn’t get on the end.

1 – I’m here, lets do this!

Good time for my stream to die huh. I’ll be back in a sec.

CL Hymn. Apparently Robben picked up a knock in the warm up and is out.

Random pre-match thought: These are two sides that everyone loves to hate right? So who are you getting behind? If you’re reading.

Juve won the first game between these sides of course 2-1. They did it by squeezing the Real Madrid midfield so that the Spanish side had no width. When Real put on 4 left wingers, they got back in the match – so it’ll be interesting to see how wide they are this evening.

There’s gonna be spelling mistakes ahoy with the players I’m not as familiar with, so bear with me.

    Ah cool, hello!

I assumed either the Juve or Real offsides were going to do it, but it was the only game I wanted to watch really, even as an Epl blogger.

Oh, there’s quite a lot of Ruud’s pics in which he doesn’t look like a weasel. A horse, now, that’s something different…

BTW so far things are going my way: Juve to win, ADP with a beautiful goal.
