Sam

… is a freelance writer and photographer. His articles on open source software and communications technology have appeared in The Economist and the Financial Times. His photographs are found at hiserfotograf.

Sam’s personality was formed in Chelsea (London) and New Jersey, where he watched the New York Cosmos through the salad days of the NASL. After matches at Giants Stadium, the lads from Bergen County (Ridgewood High School were 1980 Bergen County Champs) played three-a-sides in the stadium parking lot until the Zambone machine cleared the bottles from the empty lot at sunset.

Those were also the high, wide & not-too-handsome days of Toby Charles and Soccer Made in Germany; of Dalglish, Souness, Keegan, Wilkins, Foerster & Rummenigge … of the black bag & the magic sponge …
